About Us
Founded by Maia Virgil and Amanda Lindamood, Avenue M Dance Theater is a 501(c)3 nonprofit ballet company committed to producing original story ballets that reflect the current generation through a socially conscious lens.
Maia began her training at Swarthmore Ballet Theatre and received her BFA from NYU Tisch in Dance, Classics, and Linguistics. She currently is a company member with Axons Dance Theatre. Amanda trained at Cleveland Dance Academy and pursued her BA in Dance, Psychology, and Cognitive Science at Case Western Reserve University. Amanda and Maia met through the NYU/ABT Masters program and are both fully certified in the ABT National Training Curriculum. They currently teach throughout NYC and NJ from early childhood through adults and perform as freelance artists.
Avenue M Dance Theater envisions a future where ballet is received and respected by a wider audience and is more present in their everyday lives.

In an unexpected encounter, two ex-lovers see each other in the crowd. Involuntary memories rush through before they are pulled back to reality and continue on their separate ways.
10 AM
Set over the span of an open ballet class, “10AM” follows the busy and complex lives of four dancers as they navigate the various challenges of freelancing. While they have become good friends through this weekly class, their circumstances and motivations affect their identities as dancers in different ways.
When You Think of Me
Inspired by the themes from The Little Prince, “when you think of me” explores the connection between humanity and the cosmos. In the face of death and loss, there is solace that can be found in the night sky.
